Keeping Kids in Sport
At a time when dropout rates from youth sport are increasing, we believe it’s more important than ever to keep children active, engaged, and injury-free. Sport offers far more than physical fitness it builds confidence, social connection, resilience, and routine.
An injury at a young age, if not properly managed, can not only lead to long-term physical issues but can also discourage a child from staying involved in something they love.
By taking a proactive and informed approach to rehab and recovery, we aim to not just get kids back to sport, but keep them there performing at their best and enjoying every moment.

Supporting Ireland’s Next Generation of Young Athletes
At The Children’s Physio Ireland, we understand that children and teenagers are not simply smaller versions of adults especially when it comes to sports injuries. Their bodies are still developing, and that means their injuries, recovery times, and rehabilitation needs are completely different.
Many of the sporty kids we treat play GAA, hurling, camogie, athletics, or other high-demand sports. These young athletes often pick up injuries not from big collisions or falls, but from overuse or sudden spikes in training intensity especially during periods of rapid growth.

Why Specialist Care Matters
Children go through phases of physical change where their muscles, bones, and tendons don’t always keep up with one another. Growth spurts can temporarily affect balance and coordination, which we often refer to as “adolescent awkwardness.” This stage can make kids more vulnerable to injury if their training isn’t managed carefully.
The earlier any of these injuries are caught, the faster and more effectively we can help them recover often with just a few weeks of modified activity. But if left too long, the recovery can stretch to several months.

Helping Young Athletes Stay in the Game
Our goal is to help children return to play safely — and stronger. This involves more than just rest. We:
- Identify the root cause of injury
- Assess when a young player is ready to return to sport
- Guide recovery using age-appropriate rehab
- Educate kids and parents on managing training loads
- Support long-term development to reduce injury risk
Whether your child plays for the local GAA team, runs track, or competes in camogie at a high level, we’re here to help them move confidently and reach their full potential.
As all of our clinicians are registered members of Kids Back 2 Sport, we have the experience and expertise to assess, treat, and guide young athletes back to the pitch, track, or court safely and confidently.
